At the Kitchen and Bath Industry Show 2026 in Orlando, Florida, Dana and her team visited many booths to see and learn about new products on the market. The team was particular drawn to anything relating to wellness and Universal Design. One of those stops was the Delta Faucet booth where our team met Taneya, a consultant with Delta Faucet, who worked with their Research and Development team to fine-tune a new type of hand-held shower head. Dana did a quick interview with Taneya to learn more about the features of this shower head.

Dana: I’m Dana King with Dana King Design-Build Remodeling and I’m here with Taneya in the Delta Faucets show room at KBIS. Tell us about this new product that’s really exciting!
Taneya: Yes. So, we have the award winning VersaCurl. And VersaCurl is an in-shower detangling tool for curly, coily, and loose wavy hair. It’s really a game changer. It has a really great forceful spray. It also has a pause function.
This is where you can really go through those curls and detangle them one by one. This is going to save a lot of time for styling. And it comes with flexible inserts so you can choose the insert of your choice. This is our detangling brush insert. You can pop that right in and you’re all set and ready to go.

Dana: Perfect. Can you tell us a little bit about your background?
Taneya: Yes, absolutely. So, I am a beauty girl through and through. I worked for 12 years um on consumer product development as well as consumer engagement for a legacy brand called Creme of Nature. When I was there, we were the number three textured hair care brand. I left about 3 years ago. I now consult with other hair care brands and I launched my own brand 12 months ago. It’s called Texture Crush and it is amazing product line for healthy hair, for moisturizing the hair and cutting down on frizz.
Dana: Great. And so you’ve tested this actual shower head out before?
Taneya: Yes, I’ve tested it and it’s currently installed here. Delta invested in research and development and we tested it in-home with women with curly and coily hair. We got their feedback. We re-iterated. It’s been in testing for 3 years and I currently have it installed in my home.
Dana: That’s awesome. Can you tell about the other people who may want to use it besides those with curly hair? You mentioned aging-in-place.
Taneya: Yes. VersaCurl is also really good for shampooing and conditioning children’s hair. So if you have them and maybe they’re, you know, it’s hard to get through their hair, this is going to be a great tool. The hose is extra long so that you can shampoo or condition their hair. Or maybe you have a parent at home who’s, you know, starting to age and they don’t have the same mobility. This is going to make it easy for them to get to their hair without having to stand up in the shower or having their arms get tired. So, I love that Delta has really thought about everybody in making this tool.
Dana: That’s fantastic. Thank you so much.
Taneya: Thank you.

One of the things that is often overlooked by plumbing fixture brands is catering products towards people who have textured or curly hair and/or do not wash their hair every day.
Rain shower heads, in particular, are frustrating for people who do not wash their hair every day. With a rain shower head, the water comes straight down on top of their head, so even with a shower cap, washing their body is more difficult and requires awkward maneuvering. More often than not, hair edges get wet very easily with constant over-head water pressure.

Additionally, without a hand-shower, a rain shower head has difficultly soaking dense and textured hair. While we appreciate the spa-like feel that a rain shower head can provide, we also note they are not best suited for everyone.
We love that Delta Faucet thought of a new and unique way to include and cater to very specific needs of people with curly or textured hair, as well as young children, and a those with limited mobility. This is one of the core features of Universal Design– designing with all ages, needs and abilities in mind!
