Her husband, Dan King, supports the team and is integral to the company’s success. Together, they’ve raised two children, which gives Dana a deep understanding of diverse household needs. Certified in universal design, she ensures their projects accommodate all life stages. Her global design experiences, including time living in Bangkok, Thailand as a young family, have broadened her creative perspective.

Passionate about technology and innovation, Dana and Dan incorporate these elements into the studio and client experience. They also open the studio to community groups on evenings and weekends to foster community engagement and support local initiatives.

In her spare time, Dana enjoys community service, beach trips, and reunions with her lifelong Girl Scout Troop.

Daniel King | CFO & Controller

With a PhD in Political Science from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and a MBA from Washington University with a focus in finance and entrepreneurship, Daniel’s work experience is broad, varied, wide-ranging. His career led both him and Dana to live briefly in Thailand doing field research, and travel Asia extensively. After living abroad, he decided to return to the U.S. and pursue finance & strategy analysis. Daniel worked in the finance industry for many years before joining Dana’s successful firm as the Chief Financial Officer and IT Director in 2015. His unique background experiences enable him to not only guide the financials but comprehensively, he helps the team achieve the best outcomes for our clients and employees.

As the “left brain” Daniel is the point person for client and vendor payments, as well as any legal, IT, equipment, or accounting questions.

Prior to college he learned Thai and served refugees in the Los Angeles area. Building on that experience, he enjoys mentoring and volunteering with underserved communities. He also enjoys dining out at one of his favorite Thai restaurants.

Doug Kropp | General Manager & COO

Doug Kropp brings more than two decades of experience in the remodeling industry, having started his career in 2002. Over the years, he has led initiatives across operations, technology, marketing, sales, and production, giving him a well-rounded perspective on every facet of the business.

Before stepping into his current role as General Manager, Doug owned and operated his own remodeling company, where he developed a deep understanding of both the client experience and the day-to-day demands of running successful projects. His leadership style emphasizes collaboration, efficiency, and a commitment to delivering exceptional results.

With a passion for innovation and continuous improvement, Doug guides the team in building strong client relationships and driving sustainable growth through the measured use of technology.

When Doug isn’t focused on leading the company, he likes to spending quality time with his family and friends, playing golf, and traveling to interesting places. For example he vacationed recently with his wife on a tour of several East Coast cities that have rich American history. He also is fascinated with natural history sites like the Grand Canyon and Mt Rushmore. Doug has volunteered for two professional golf events and plans on doing more in the future.

Donna Reed | Office Manager & Operations Coordinator

A lover of people and processes, Donna has over 20 years of experience and education in communications and business management. She has been a part of the DK team since 2016 in administrative, advisory and collaborative roles.

Donna is known for her calm and logical approach to problem solving, mediation skills, and ensuring the operations are running efficiently. Donna works closely with our trade partners and the production team to keep projects on schedule. She sets up warranty work, site visits, and communications on different platforms to maintain an attentive relationship with our clients.

In her free time, Donna loves photography, building out computer programs, and relaxing by the pool in her backyard.

Ellen Alvey | Design Manager

With over 20 years of design experience Ellen started her career in the commercial and health care design industry. There she was submerged in the details of new construction and both standard and historical renovation. A new challenge arose for her to join a residential design firm which allowed her to bring fresh perspectives into home remodeling.

Ellen opened her own design company and ran it for several years, before pivoting to a merchandising/buying position with a furniture retailer.  Her retail experience offered a broad spectrum of experience.  From forecasting, buying and planning product introductions, to leading teams of designers to execute the brand vision. She also organized more than a dozen new location openings.

As a member of the DK team, Ellen is the managerial liaison between the design team, production team and the client. Her goal is to ensure projects run smoothly, end on time and continuously improve, elevating the experience for all.

The accomplishment she’s most proud of are her two sons, both who share her creative edge: one is a superintendent in new construction, and the other is a fine artist. In her spare time Ellen is dedicated to rescuing dogs, has a passion for gardening and an obsession with rehabbing her modern, mid-century home.

Drew Chapman | Construction Manager

Building relationships of trust with clients is not only what Drew is known for, but is what he enjoys the most. While he received a B.S. in Education with a minor in Political Science, he chose to pursue home remodeling nearly 20 years ago, starting as a ‘helper’ and working his way up to a finish carpentry, and now in management. Drew values and tenaciously ensures schedules are accurate and communicated with all stakeholders. He feels client communication is his most important job and loves to bring in everyone as a team to collaborate as partners.

A fond and frequent memory of Drew’s is his grandfather reminding him that “money comes and goes, but experiences last forever.” This has been a mantra throughout Drew’s life and at DK, because he sees that the remodeling process is a large and impactful experience for clients especially, so he is committed to doing whatever he can to make the experience positive.

When Drew is not managing the remodeling experience, he loves to create memories with his family at live sporting events (all sports but especially basketball) and live concerts.

Donna Hathaway | Director of First Impressions

With over 30 years of customer service experience, Donna loves being the first point of contact for most of our clients. She listens to their needs and meets them where they are at, whether it is informing them of our services, scheduling consultations, or following up with questions and concerns. Donna was self-employed for many years in real estate, so has a firm understanding of the challenges and opportunities within the home remodeling industry, and how important it is to maintain calm and clear communication. Ultimately she most loves interacting with people and seeing our clients’ dreams come to life with their home remodel.

Besides the day-to-day communication with community members, Donna also communicates with our trade partners, and manages and organizes information of new and potential clients.

In her free time, Donna enjoys volunteering with and advocating for children in foster care programs and adoption programs.

CDR from NARI

A passion and talent in fine arts and fashion design led Renna over 3 decades ago to the home building, remodeling and interior design industry. She spent many years working with her father and brothers as residential general contractors. There she gained knowledge as a builder/remodeler and honed her skills in kitchen, bath and interior design.  Continually seeking out the most innovative and current trends in the industry to introduce to their clients projects or incorporate into the speculative builds.  Renna has been featured in magazines and publications for her strengths in design, space planning, and highlighting architectural features.

Renna’s specialty is the ability to envision a space and design while getting to know and collaborate with clients. The love of design is seeing the transformation from what was and embracing what is; unique, innovative, and timeless spaces that are the embodiment of the ones who live in them.

Olivia Brumleve | Project Designer

Olivia’s passion for interior design began at an early age, inspired by her mother, whose creativity as a decorator and seamstress left a lasting impression. As a child, Olivia often accompanied her mother on client visits and shopping trips, where she developed an appreciation for thoughtfully designed spaces and the impact they can have on people’s lives.

She earned her degree in Interior Design from St. Louis Community College – Meramec and has since built an extensive background in kitchen and bath design, as well as tile and stone design. Her expertise allows her to intentionally balance aesthetics and functionality, creating spaces that are both beautiful and practical. Above all, she believes that empathy is the most important tool a designer can possess. By putting herself in her clients’ shoes and understanding how they live, she creates personalized environments that reflect their needs, lifestyles, and vision.

When she’s not designing, Olivia enjoys playing tennis and volleyball, traveling to new places with her husband, and going walks on her Corgi named Gumbo.

During college, Jenn realized her lifelong interests in art and architecture could become a fulfilling career when she enrolled in Intro to Interior Design. She earned her Bachelor of Science from Southeast Missouri State University in 2006 and brings nearly 20 years of experience helping clients transform their homes into functional and beautiful spaces.

Jenn specializes in kitchen and bathroom remodeling, whole home renovations, space planning, cabinetry and finish selection, and universal design.
